Application
WTS Wehrli Traction Shoe − Application
Draw a line approx. 8mm in front ot the middle of the digit. The rotation point of the hoof joint is situatied at the point where this line crosses the coronary band.

Draw a vertical line downwards from the rotation point of the hoof joint.

The base of the frog determines the longitudinal axis.
Check that the widest part of the hoof is where the vertical line drawn from the rotation point of the hoof joint meets the ground. Then draw the longitudinal and the transversal axis with the borehole marker and the WTS template.

Draw the shape of the hoof on the shoe, measure and draw the position of the white line, and mark the nail holes.

Drill the nail holes and grind the shape of the shoe according to the outline of the hoof drawn previously. Give a bit of excess shoe on the outer quarter.
Nail the shoe on. The marks on the shoe must exactly match the lines drawn on the hoof.

WTS shoes at the highest international level: Ludger Beerbaum with Zinedine
Additionally with WTS Soft Heel
Club foot
Before: heels too long

After: heels corrected; larger bearing surface at the back of the foot; shoe parallel to the coffin bone

The horn cut away at the heels is compensated with the Soft Heel elements, to prevent excessive traction on the deep digital flexor tendon.

Flat foot
Before: flat, crushed heels and a negative palmar angle.

After: Heels corrected back; more bearing surface at the back of the foot; shoe parallel to the coffin bone; positive palmar angle.

Soft Heel elements grount to the desired angle to obtain correct conformation.

Successful at the Olympics in Rio with WTS Soft Heel: Lintea Tequila/ Edwina Tops-Alexander
Right fore: Correct conformation and optimal shock absorption with WTS Soft Heel.

Right fore: medial Soft Heel element slightly wider, to give more support to that side of the foot.
